ABOUT ME
Chase Thomas is an upcoming post-production editor born in the city of El Paso, Texas but was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii most of his life. As a soon to be graduate at New Mexico State University with a Bachelors's in Digital Filmmaking at the Creative Media Institute, Chase’s willingness to learn and strengthen his skill sets has been honed through his work on multiple creative projects. He balances his studies with his work as a firefighter, which allows him to further operate as a team player in a fast-paced environment, under stressful situations. This type of exciting involvement that Chase experiences are the exact same thrilling sensation he hopes to share with others through film and editing.

I am an editor, and what makes a movie a movie is the editing. In editing, there’s a sense of magic, and that magic is discovering something new that wasn’t intended and works for a movie. I realized as an editor that I can manipulate time and can bridge millions of years connecting the prehistoric past to an imaginary future. As well as being the first to see what is on the screen almost as if you are controlling what shapes a response to what the audience sees, either by slowing down or speeding up time or by finding ways to startle an audience or even amuse them. Being able to bring together someone else's idea to life and controlling what the audience will see is my vision of becoming an editor. I want to be a key component to a film as well as a close partner to a director to make it easier on them while still creating the movie that they envisioned. That’s why I’m currently working on my vision and gaining experience of editing and working with directors, but also lifting the weight off the director's shoulders since I am the final part of the process of making a movie.
